Thank you for taking the time to view this proposal. If you are a European player of Medievia Cyberspace then your input is greatly valued. If you are not then this site offers nothing of interest for you, sorry. If you're a European player and are at all interested in this proposal, we'd love to hear from you. Please email me at [email protected] and provide the following details:
- Proposal: The formation of a new Clan for Medievia Cyberspace, intended to offer European players a home and 'family' that we may all truly belong to and identify with.
- The Founders: This idea has been put together by a group of European players who for the time being wish to remain anonymous -- after all, we still have to live with our current Clans.... We are all either Heroes or Multies, and between us we possess a significant range of skills and a mass of accumulated general knowledge. Oh yeah, and we love the game... :)
- The Benefits:We believe that a European-only Clan would enjoy numerous benefits; most importantly, a healthy 'Clanwhere' listing during normal European online times. During these times there are also advantages to be gained from good XP and EQ forms, while the MUD is fairly quiet. If you are fairly new to Medievia you'll find us friendly and ever so helpful; if an old hand yourself, you'll make a worthy addition to our valuable EQ forms in the toughest zones.
- Working Title: The Brotherhood of the Clave. Very loosely based on 'The Clave' from the 'Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant' by Stephen Donaldson.
- Members: European residents only. If we have serious trouble filling the Clan after several months then we'll maybe throw it open to other players within similar Time Zones -- this decision to be made after a poll of the existing membership at that time.
- Gender/Marriage: Both male and female characters are welcome. Any existing marriage outside the Clave will be respected, provided that it does not interfere unduly with your duty to your brothers and sisters.
- Alignment: No strict alignment, though perhaps with a tendancy towards evil. True to the Second Chronicles, the Clave may contain members who are profoundly 'Evil' as well those who are recognisably 'Good'.
- Hierarchy: A formal hierarchy would be in place, with hands-on Hero leadership, guidance, support and general organisation. Numerous special positions will be in evidence, with appropriate Clan Titles (Eg. Trademaster, Quartermaster, etc) so that members always know who to contact for help, advice, equipment, XP assistance, etc. Members will be kept informed of clan business and other useful stuff via a regular clan newsletter (email) and a well-supported WWW site.
- Clan Titles: We will have our very own sense of identity and to reaffirm this (both internally and in the eyes of others) all Clan Titles will be set -- and changed accordingly -- based on the position your character holds in the clan. Rank-and-file members would therefore all proudly bear a clan title of 'Rider of the Clave' (read the 'Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant'!). Higher ranks and any special positions held would be similarly identified with their own titles, all ending with '...of the Clave'. Our Clan Site will show the full hierarchy and all current members and their titles.
- Roleplaying: This is not a requirement though members are encouraged to roleplay should they so choose. Many clans in Medievia have little or no roleplaying on the basis that this is hardly a MUSH, but a certain degree of roleplaying can be fun and rewarding in any form of MUD. The choice is, however, entirely your own. If another member chooses to roleplay and you do not, you must respect that choice -- just as you would expect him or her to respect your choice not to roleplay.
- Clan Rules: One rule only is of any importance, and this forms both our motto and our creed: The Clave is all. Nothing else matters; nothing and no one else should be put before a fellow member of the clan. [Romantic interludes excepted, and so long as this does not interfere unduly with your duty to the Clave. ;-)] High level members will be expected to devote a certain amount of their time to assisting lower levels -- and thereby strengthening the Clave -- but the type of assistance expected will vary and be your choice. Some will spend some time as Trademaster, others leading EQ or XP forms, and perhaps some will just have to be on call to assist threatened members in PK zones. The type of assistance is optional, but the giving of assistance on request will not be optional: the Clave will not be a home for lone wolves, so if you are not prepared to help your brothers and sisters then this most certainly is not the clan for you.
- Initial Membership: At the moment we're a (growing) group of European players scattered across different clans and different towns -- a list fully known only to myself. This list remains absolutely confidential (and your anonyminity is guaranteed) up until we have sufficient funds between us to actually form this clan. This might take a month, three months, six months, a year. We just don't know. One thing is certain though -- we will achieve our aims, and we'd be delighted if you share our dreams and want to help us realise them. It doesn't matter if you're also a Hero or still just a single class newbie -- all European players are welcome until our ranks have been filled.
- Initial Ranking: Your initial ranking (and any special positions held) in the Clave would be based not only on current level at the time of actual formation but also on the funds that you are willing to pledge to the Clave initially. It's not exactly cheap to set up a new clan! The bulk of the necessary funding will come from those of us already committed to the idea, but we do need more. Membership does not involve an actual admission fee, but should we find that we have more than 50 interested persons on the list then priority will of necessity have to be based on pledged funds. You will not be asked to part with a single coin until we have sufficient in pledges to do everything that we need to do to form the Clave -- including a Clan Item, Clan Hall, Clan Chat facility, and a worthy Sister Clan... with the possibility of our own Clan Town if funds permit, though is unlikely early on. (NB: Later promotions will be based on contributed funds as well as merit, experience, performance, and time regularly spent online).
- Multiple Characters: We would welcome multiple characters if each of your characters pledges separately to help with the formation of the Clave.
- Sister Clans; Clan Towns; Other Trivia: Lots of other details have still to be thrashed out at this stage. If you join our list of prospective members (details below) you will be kept regularly informed of any and all developments by email.
- Your Character Name(s)
- Your email address
- Your level(s) and class(es)
- Pledged funds available now.
- Pledged funds 1 month from now (realistic estimates only pls).
- Pledged funds 2 months from now (realistic estimates only pls).
- Pledged funds 3 months from now (realistic estimates only pls).
- Pledged funds 6 months from now (realistic estimates only pls).
Remember that pledged funds are not strictly necessary, but such would of course greatly influence your initial ranking in the Clave. The estimated pledges will enable us to predict when sufficient funds should become available to us...
Please bear in mind that all details will be held in the strictest of confidence and known only to myself, until such time as our list is strong and wealthy enough to form our own clan as proposed. Full details of prospective members and their pledges will then be made available to everyone on the list, together with details of how we intend to set things up. In the meanwhile, email updates will be sent to everyone on the list to keep you informed of developments, and you will invited to offer your input on the ideas and proposals presented for consideration.
Joining the mailing list of interested persons is simply that -- you are not making any promises at this stage and will not be held to anything in the future. At the present this proposal is still just an idea and no firm commitments are necessary: this site has been created simply to inform potential members of our ideas so far and to begin measuring likely response to the proposal. Nothing mentioned here has yet been set in concrete. All that said, it's looking real good so far....
Finally, although I have a 2nd lvl newbie character ('Theclave') running around on a daily basis simply to point prospective members to this site, you can help!! Please use your Clan and Town channels to identify other European players and point them to this site. Indeed, whenever you're in a room or form with enough characters present to be worth typing 'any other European players here?', then please do so -- and later link/telepath or message any who respond with this URL:
http://www.freewwwpage.com/games/~theclave/
... or simply make a note of their names and email/message me this info. Thanks.
And remember, if there's ever anything you want to discuss or have clarified -- or if you have any suggestions that you'd like to make -- simply email me and I'll get back to you ASAP.

I look forward to hearing from you!
